We are raising money this year for a kitchen and storage room for the Lesibovu carepoint in Swaziland. The precious ladies who cook every day for the orphaned and at risk children who come to the carepoint need our help. They cook breakfast of pap which is like a porridge and then lunch of rice and beans for up to 200 children. They do this outside and gather firewood, start a fire and then fill up large cast iron pots with water. They spend hours sorting through huge bags of beans to remove rocks, bugs and even mouse droppings before cooking, then cooking and stirring the huge pots of food. If they had small building to cook in to be out of the African sun and a storage building to store the food inside away from the critters and the elements, this massive job would be so much easier. The food would be healthier too for the children.
Most of these children depend on the carepoint each day to eat. They patiently line up with their bowls, the oldest waiting for the little ones and the sweet ladies feed them with a smile. They work for free for hours each day to serve the kids and feed themselves and their little children. One of my favorite ladies carries her little girl on her back in a homemade sling the whole time she is cooking. I got to sit with these ladies and help sort through the beans and it is very time consuming. Then stirring the food in those huge pots for hours, these ladies are incredible.
Will you help us help these ladies this year by blessing them with a much needed kitchen buidling and storage building. We need to raise $15,000. We are so blessed with homes with appliances and running water, lets bless these ladies and the children they feed this Christmas!
